  • Overview

    Provides direct patient services using Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment as directed by physicians qualified to order/or perform.

    Responsibilities

    • Apply necessary technical judgment to obtain studies of an acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and patient's age specific needs.
    • Process films and performs imaging enhancements according to procedure.
    • Provide patient education relevant to specific imaging procedure by informing patient of nature of procedure, the area to be imaged, and any additional special instructions patient may need.
    • Ensure all radiographs are appropriately labeled as specified by Department S.O.P.
    • Participate in quality improvement activities by collecting and assisting in the interpretation of relevant data when requested.
    • Supervise radiography students assigned to his/her area.
    • Inform appropriate personnel of needed equipment repairs or unsafe conditions.
    • Perform other duties as requested.
    • Attend in-service and other professional development meetings as required.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Graduate of a J.R.C.E.R.T. approved School of Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine or Ultrasound. 
    • Individuals with a strong background in cross sectional anatomy, physical sciences, and/or M.R.  Physics will also be considered provided they hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher.

    Experience:

    • Minimum five (5) years prior experience. 
    • Within the Hospital, interacts daily with physicians, technicians, nursing, and support personnel.
    • Prior experience interacting with Hospital vendors and regulatory agencies helpful.
    • Supervise Support personnel in the absence of MRI Coordinator.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to read and write in English along with good communication skills.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.  Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
