  • Overview

    Responsible for the coordination of work, scheduling of employees and oversight of workflow and coordination of processes. Position typically is responsible for the work of four or more employees, has direct input over the hiring, training, coaching and counseling for employees under their supervision.

    Responsibilities

    1. Accomplish deliverables by planning, monitoring, and appraising job results of employees under direct management.
    2. Develop employees through coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
    3. Serve as subject matter expert and generally works on most complex assignments as well as performing supervisory duties.
    4. Maintain work flow by monitoring steps of the process, setting processing variables, observing controls and equipment.
    5. Monitor staff work, implementing programs and procedures, prepare reports and identify issues or potential road blocks for production and efficiency. Recommend solutions to manager for long-term fix. 
    6. Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing standards.
    7. Ensure operation of equipment, call for repair maintenance as necessary.
    8. Provide information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing performance and data. Answer questions and respond to requests.
    9. Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change.
    10. Maintain safe and clean work environment, educate staff and those supported.
    11. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
    12. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education: 

    Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

     

    Experience: 

    Experience typically ranges from a minimum of 4 to 6 years, depending on subject matter expertise, but may vary.

     

    Knowledge and Skills:

    Strong knowledge of healthcare products and services.

     

    Familiar with GPO’s (Group Purchasing Organizations) and Healthcare Distributors (i.e. Medlne, Cardinal, Owens & Minor)

     

    Subject Matter Expertise in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

     

    Strong leadership abilities.

     

    Strong negotiation skills.

     

    Excellent communication skills.

    Ability to direct and oversee the workflow of others is required.

    Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks;   establishing bestpractices, benchmarking and participating in professional societies(HCRMA, AHRMM)

    Ability to research and implement new/revised policies & procedures

    Ability to fully utilize BHMC’s  MMIS(Materials Management Information Systems [Lawson], Electronic Procurement Systems [P-Suite],  and other healthcare  systems relevant to this position.

     

    Under the direction of the Director of Materials Management, oversees Brookdale’s Nursing Value Analysis program in conjunction with clinical support provided by Nursing Administration.

     

    License/Certifications:

    CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) certification preferred.
