  • Overview

    The Brookdale FOCUS Project will incorporate HIV and HCV testing into routine care across Brookdale’s nine clinical sites (including seven ambulatory care settings, the Emergency Department, and the inpatient service), with the goal of increasing the total number of HIV and HCV tests, thereby identifying previously undiagnosed individuals earlier in the stage of disease.  The FOCUS Data Manager will be responsible for development of EHR algorithms and ongoing reporting of required data.

    Responsibilities

    • Work with the Brookdale IS Epic team to develop SMART electronic health record (EHR) algorithms for routine opt-out HIV and HCV screening to be integrated into all inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department services.
      • Create prompts triggered by age, diagnoses, ICD10 codes.
      • Create prompts that include pre-selected orders for HIV and/or HCV testing, depending on the patient’s qualifying criteria.
      • Develop automatic messaging to FOCUS team when patients meet specific criteria. 
    • Develop a hospital-wide provider dashboard to provide real-time summary data to all clinicians on HIV testing activities, such as number/percent tested, number/percent positive, and number/percent linked to care.
    • Develop a system for tracking all linkage to care follow-up encounters.
    • Develop a system to extract all clinical laboratory information related to testing eligibility, test results, and linkage to care.
    • Analyze data and work with Project Director and leadership of clinical sites to identify and address any technical or procedural problems with the successful implementation of the FOCUS project.
    • Submit report of all required aggregate data to funders on a monthly basis. 
    • Adhere to Brookdale’s Code of Ethics and Conduct. 
    • All other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Master’s degree in medical technology or a similar field preferred.

    Experience:

    • At least 2 years' experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) data management.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Experience with EPIC electronic health record.
    • Experience with REDCap electronic data system.
    • Effective written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience working in multicultural, team-oriented setting preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Position requires prolonged periods of sitting, performing detailed analysis and use/viewing of a PC throughout the day.
